Better Business in Manchester

Welcome to Premier Account's monthly business club

Small businesses are said to represent the future. Their flexibility, innovation and speedy response provides solutions modern customers need. But how do you plan for success? Join us at our monthly business club on a path of discovery and improvement - or tune in through Facebook.

Small is still beautiful - but can punch well above its weight!

Large 'legacy' companies often struggle to cope with bright, young upstarts. The ability of small dynamic enterprises to respond and adapt quickly to new market opportunities is one of the hallmarks of early 21st century business.

But it often doesn't feel like that from the inside! The success of many SMEs is based on a single good idea executed well. As you grow you are expected to cover more business basics. Clients present more challenges. Being legally compliant becomes more complicated.

And how do you grow? One excellent idea may not fuel you for ever. Do you have a strategic vision backed by a realistic fully-costed plan to achieve your long-term ambitions? Are you making the best use of your financial data? Importantly, do you and your team really understand digital technology opportunities - working in the cloud?

Mental health and well-being

Talking of teams, given the amount of concern expressed recently by many channels, I think it is important to mention that this is Mental Health Awareness Week 2018, with the reminder that mental health is as important and potentially debilitating as physical health and well-being - https://www.mind.org.uk/workplace/mental-health-awareness-week-2018/

Join our continuous business journey

Premier Account's monthly business club is designed to help you find personal answers to many of these questions as part of our new Vision Consultancy Service.

Our opening meeting of this particular series will be held very soon in central Manchester. But don't worry if you miss it. Because the business club is a continuous journey, you can join us at any point.

However, you can make an early start by linking in to our conversation via Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/160289524637306/?source_id=212225935566606. Or search Facebook for 'Premier Accounts Monthly Business Club'.

What should you expect?

One part of our business club meetings will be very structured; the other provides an open discussion forum with networking, plus formal and informal opportunities to share experiences and short-term difficulties.

All enterprises and business owner have specific and often unique strengths. On the principle of 'one for all and all for one', business club meetings are an environment in which you are free to let off professional steam - within the bounds of decency - but also air and share business views.

More seriously, a key aim is to provide an opportunity for discussing confidentially the worrying business problems that may have been keeping you awake at night. Everybody has them!

By contributing your own experience, you can potentially help others to make the most of their own challenges. And vice versa. Very importantly, this is also a chance to discuss innovative ideas outside the box that you may never have thought of before.

In short, we create the shared management space for stimulating brainstorming that often exists within larger companies but can be much harder for leaders of smaller companies to find.

Meetings are also structured

That is one aspect of our regular Business Club meetings. The other is a more formal backbone structure of business planning, management and execution to give you a solid framework for progress and development.

We will help you to set realistic goals, create your own strategic plan, develop monthly actions and learn crucial new skills in our Xero Training Workshop designed as a beginners' threshold to cloud accountancy and financial management.

Your own 'Big Hairy Ambitious Goal'

Fun rather than intimidating, we will work with you to question what you want out of the day before moving on to your annual goals, plus your own very personal 'Big Hairy Ambitious Goal (BHAG)'! This is an opportunity to let rip creatively and face up to the hidden ambitions you perhaps nurture secretly but have been careful never to discuss openly.

The reason we are interested in your BHAG is because having a grand unspoken plan, and thinking about it seriously, often opens up ideas that are achievable but also have the strong backing of staff. Everyone welcomes high-level success!

Additional business issues

Following on, we will then be looking closely at regularly-mentioned issues of concern, including: -

  • Managing staff
  • Collecting money
  • Systemising your business
  • Maximising your marketing results
  • Pricing your products/services correctly

En route, we will also work with you closely to identify in depth and detail your: -

  • Strengths
  • Weaknesses
  • Opportunities
  • Threats

This information will help in drawing up realistic and achievable rolling quarterly goals for the nine months ahead to put commercial flesh on your plans.

Xero Training Workshop

You may already be a keen cloud advocate, or a less-than-willing slow convert. However, digital accountancy, bookkeeping and banking, not carried out on your computer but in the cyber-world ether accessed by your mobile phone or device, is now the business direction of travel.

The workshop will give you a condensed early lesson in: -

  • Raising sales invoices
  • Recording purchase invoices and expenses
  • Understanding the Xero dashboard
  • Reconcile your banking using bank feeds
  • Which Xero add-ons we recommend and how to find ones that will work for your business
  • Recording your fixed assets

We look forward to seeing you in the near future. For more information, please contact me directly: -
